Job Description:

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: All duties are subject to accommodation in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

  • The Physician shall diagnose and treat illnesses of patients from twenty one to adult, utilizing the resources of the Health Center and when necessary refer to appropriate specialized resources of health care.
  • When hospital admission is required, the Physician, if feasible, shall admit the patient to the Pediatric or Adult Medicine ward in a hospital where the Physician can continue to direct the patient care.
  • The Physician shall provide night and weekend coverage and arrange for back-up while on benefit leave, etc., in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer.
  • The Physician shall serve as a consultant to the department staff, and a back-up physician to the R.N.’s in that service.
  • The Physician shall participate in staff meetings and at times conduct these meetings relating to quality assurance programs, case conferences, and JCAHO activities.
  • Maintain accurate charts and document clinical information in medical records.
  • Follow infection control/OSHA guidelines.

Experience and Skills:

Qualifications:

  • Board eligible/Board Certified in reasonable time period.
  • CT Licensed
  • Apply for admitting privileges at Bridgeport Hospitals.

 

Education and/or Experience: Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Connecticut.

Generally, the working conditions are good with little or no exposure to extremes in health, safety hazards and/or hazardous materials. This person must have the ability to travel as required to work with staff.
