Job Description:

Summary: The OB/GYN Physician shall diagnose and treat all patients presenting for OB/GYN Care. The OB/GYN Physician shall be responsible for the overall clinical management and activities of the OB/GYN Department and ensure the smooth operation of same.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: All duties are subject to accommodation in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

  • Provides comprehensive medical care to all women who are present for care concerning the reproductive and genitourinary systems including preventive, maintenance and acute care of said system consistent with the scope of duties and responsibilities for which the OB/GYN has been privileged by the Health Center Board of Directors.
  • Diagnose pregnancy, performs initial and subsequent prenatal exams as necessary consistent with the protocols developed by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology for routine and high risk pregnancies.
  • Ensure the provision of preventive, primary and acute care to all gynecological patients in accordance with the standards of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  • Provide after-hours coverage including nights and weekends, as required, and arrange for coverage during his absence for vacation, professional education or other leave time.
  • Supervise clinical support staff including registered nurses, student nurses, etc.
  • Provide consultation and supervision to mid-level providers.
  • Act as a consultant to Health Center clinicians and department staff, as appropriate.
  • Participate in in-house in-services trainings, provider meetings, performance improvement and other meetings as necessary.
  • Participate in such continuing professional educational activities as needed to maintain licensure.

All other duties as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer.

Experience and Skills:

Qualifications:

  • Possess license to practice medicine in the State of Connecticut
  • Certified by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists or is Board eligible.
  • Graduate of an accredited medical residency program.
  • Eligible for, and maintains, admitting privileges at least one city hospital, preferably Bridgeport Hospital.
  • Possess good interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work with a culturally diverse population.

Education and/or Experience: Certified by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists or is Board eligible .Graduate of an accredited medical residency program.

Possess 3-5 years experience in the practice of OB/GYN.

Generally, the working conditions are good with little or no exposure to extremes in health, safety hazards and/or hazardous materials. This person must have the ability to travel as required to work with staff.
